Now then. We all know an’ love beach jollies! What we didn’t know, was that we that we would find tropical beaches in Japan!

We just spent 2 weeks chillaxing in Okinawa, Japan and here is how we would spent the perfect 5 days if we were to do it again!

To start wi’ you’ll have to get yoursen a flight to Naha, one of Okinawa’s main islands – and possibly most popular.

Naha

Spend 1 day exploring Naha; you can hire a car to explore more of the island or get the monorail if you want to explore in town.

Best places to stay in Naha

Check out sites like Shurijo Castle, Kouri Island, Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium.

Tokashiki Island

Take the ferry over to the smaller Tokashiki Island and spend 2 days there; snorkelling, cycling, and hiking to viewpoints.

Best places to stay in Tokashiki

We stayed at Shima Ashibi which is a 5 minute walk from the ferry port, but a 40 minute walk from Tokashiki Beach or short bus ride from Aharen Beach.

Make sure to read our blog for everything you need to know before you go, take a look at where we stayed on Tokashiki island here on TikTok.

How to explore Tokashiki, the unexplored Japanese paradise

Looking for a hidden tropical paradise? Look no further. We’ve found a bloody good destination for your next jollies! White sandy beaches, Kerama blue waters, and no crowds. We’ve piled all the information into this mini guide, you’re welcome. This is Tokashiki Island, tried and tested by two tight travellers.

Zamami Island

Next, get yoursen on’t local ferry over to Zamami Island where you can spend 2 days. Swim with turtles at Ama beach, visit the neighbouring Aka Island, or even go on a whale watching tour (depending on the time of year you visit).

Best places to stay in Zamami

We camped on Ama beach during our stay, which was incredibly basic and uncomfortable, but mostly worth it – we were literally camping on the beach!

Check out our guide to Zamami Island, and take a gander at Ama beach camping on TikTok.

Make your way back to Naha, proper chuffed with the beach holiday you didn’t expect from Japan!
