Ey up! We just had our first stay in a Japanese love hotel, and honestly it was better than we expected!
Our Experience in a Japanese Love Hotel
Not that anyone asked, but you’re still reading – obviously interested.
We stayed at Hotel Will, which is a love hotel chain in Japan. Easy to miss when you’re looking on booking platforms Minus the cosplay images!

Honestly, we didn’t know what to expect. All we knew was that we needed somewhere close to Nagoya and cheap. This fit the bill!
We booked with Booking.com after scouring across multiple platforms to find the best deal. It was only when we received booking confirmation and a message regarding the hotel systems that we realised it was a love hotel.
First impressions, seedy. But that’s just because you know people are renting rooms by the hour!

There’s a faceless check in (staff are behind a frosted screen) to allow people their privacy, and the reception area is filled with free amenities: bath salts, toiletries, drink machines, cosplay.
We checked into our room; and it was huge! Japanese hotels are known for being small so we were surprised! Big jacuzzi bath, sofa, 50” TV, Queen bed (not the small doubles we had been crammed into for the previous month)! Yes it was a bit tired – wallpaper peeling off (and stapled back on, worn furniture. But it was clean and relatively cheap – £52 a night.

We stayed here during the Japanese Grand Prix, and it contributed massively to the low cost!

Things to Check Before You Book
Make sure to check these points before you book – make or break.
- Key cards for the door (we didn’t have one during our stay, you have to let reception know when you want to enter / exit your room. Strange, but we got on with it.)
- Keeping the room during the day (some people have had to move their stuff out of the room each day and check back in later – ball ache)
- Check reviews (as you would with any hotel, make sure the rooms are clean)
Not all of these were our experience, but you can check out other people’s experience on TikTok.
