Day 5 – The Ancient City & Off to Chiang Mai
Day 5 saw us exploring the Ancient City via metro and plenty of walking to keep costs down. Temples, palaces, and people-watching galore. Lunch at a small stall, then off to the bus station for our sleeper bus to Chiang Mai. History, steps, and budget travel — proper Tight Travellers style.

Nanda Heritage Hotel – Bangkok: Reyt or Shyte?
We stayed three nights in a Deluxe Twin at Nanda Heritage Hotel for £106. Spacious, clean, comfy rooms with AC, pool, and helpful staff. Close to Khao San Road and Bangkok sights. A bit of city noise, but proper value for couples wanting a tidy, central base — Reyt for sure.

Bangkok Days 3 and 4 – One Down, One Out and About
Day 3 hit hard — one of us down with food poisoning, the other people-watching Halloween chaos on Khao San Road over curry. Next day, solo adventures to Chatuchak Market via water taxi and metro (Grab was far too dear). Mango sticky rice saved the day — proper Tight Travellers spirit.

We stayed at Srida Resort Lanna & Café in Chiang Mai for the Yi Peng Festival. Quiet rice-field views, tidy rooms, and breakfast included for £75 over four nights. Mattress solid as a rock, café smoothies and croffles just okay. Peaceful and good value — Reyt for downtime, shyte for soft beds
