It started by finding a cheap flight. Of course for this, we used SkyScanner. We had the luxury of having flexible dates; flights were secured for £35 pp.
Then, on to booking.com and trip.com for accommodation (because we have to scour for the cheapest option). Refined price low to high. And we found an apartment in the middle of the city for £23 per night per person. And if you needed us to do the math for you, that is flights and accommodation booked for £105 pp. Not bad.
The apartment was quite spacious with an indoor and outdoor communal area. There were six rooms, we stayed in Jasmine. The room was pretty standard, it had everything we needed and was comfy enough. Bare in mind it is an apartment, you could hear water rushing through the pipes when above floors flushed… Also if you’re going with your partner/friend I hope you do not like your privacy. The bathroom door would not shut properly, although I’m sure that this isn’t a common feature in all rooms..?

The main selling point of the accommodation is the location.
A 15 minute walk from the train station and and 40 minute walk to the airport. And yes, we did walk to and from the airport. Yes even though we set off for our flight home at 4:30am. Legs are free to use. Plus who doesn’t love exercise before 5am?
Although we stayed for 3 nights, Pisa is a city that can be seen in a day.
We landed at 11:30, and check in wasn’t until 15:00. We strolled in the direction of the apartment and stopped on the way to get some lunch (pizza of course). By this time, we still hadn’t received our self check in information, (self check in- perfect for those who do not wish to speak to anyone).
We grabbed our slightly heavy backpacks and made our way up to Pisa’s most iconic site- the leaning tower.

What was perfect was that it wasn’t crowded with the usual summer crowd (mainly because it is winter) but nevertheless, there were very few tourists here. We observed people holding their hands up in the air, trying to get the picture. Much to Wills distaste it was his turn next.
We stood and stared at the tower (which was not on as much of an angle as I thought) and then walked around the Cathedral. Like a few others, we took the opportunity to sit in the sun and people watch before making our way to the apartment for check in- I could not wait to get rid of my bag.
We spent the rest of the day wandering around Christmas markets and window shopping down Borgo Stretto.
We sampled the Italian cuisine again, pizza and pasta. Finishing off with my first ever tiramisu. We were quite close to the leaning tower and somehow spent 40€, but I guess that is our own fault.

As we were near, we headed back to the leaning tower, and this time there was a handful of people there. By this point, we were pretty sure we had seen all of Pisa in a handful of hours? You’ll have to let us know if we missed anything worth going back for.
For the rest of the night, we were debating what to do for our remaining 2 days.
The next day, we chose to get the train to Lucca, and the day after the train to Florence.
